We started the trip with a short visit to stay overnight in St. Louis. We went on a walkabout while waiting for our table at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
The next day we headed to the Walmart parking lot in Marion, Illinois...
...to join with many other people that were there to see the eclipse.
Quite a few of them were clearly traveling to see the eclipse.
At the point of totality, the sky got super dark, but the horizons were still lit.
Wade gazing up before we reached totality.
We had brought some eclipse-viewing glasses that we got off the internet. After the eclipse, we traveled (very slowly) to Nashville.
Nashville was rainy, so we didn't get as much touring around as we would like, but we had to get some hot chicken at Hattie B's.
Their patio was open to the weather, so we bundled up with our chicken, fries, and coleslaw.
That night we had tickets to go see the Grand Ole Opry.
A quick shot showing our view of the stage.
That night's theme was Opry alumni from Belmont University, including Tricia Yearwood...
...and a special appearance from Brad Paisley.
Mom was in good spirits for her 93rd birthday. Here she is a the Fort Jesse Cafe having breakfast.
We had dinner on Saturday night with Julie and Danny to catch up...
...and on Sunday, the boys came down and we went out for teppanyaki at Kobe's.
