I get up at 5:00 in the morning and drive out to the San Gabriel Mountains north of Azusa, so I
can check in by 7:30.
We gather everyone up for the hike. I was expecting 10-15 people, but there's more than thirty.
The trail pretty much follows the creek upstream...
...but they tell you to where shoes that can get wet, as we cross the stream several times.
It's a two hour, five-mile hike out to the site...
...and we take a break along the way.
It's obviously a dry desert, and staying hydrated is key.
Just about there. This is the last rest stop, a pee-in-the-bucket stop for the women.
The guys just go in the bushes along the way. In the background is the site.
Here's a view from one end of the bridge across to the jump site in the middle. Note the little red
jumping platform on the right.
Of course, we have a long safety briefing while everyone eats the lunch or snack they brought.
First group up, and putting on their harnesses.
